As of June 19th, the City has 911 known short-term rental properties.
Most short-term rental owners have come into compliance with the new regulation and the City has seen major improvements across the Island.
A number of short-term rental owners have hired local managers that are helping to address issues before they become a problem for the neighbors.
We are still having issues with three short-term rental owners and the City is doing everything in its power to address these issues.
The City’s new code enforcement officials have issued multiple violations and are working with both the short-term rental owners and the neighboring homeowners to address the issues that are still ongoing.
Under the new short-term rental regulations, the City has the ability to revoke the license of any short-term rental property that receives five strikes against it for violations of the new laws.
The City has reminded the three owners of the five strike policy. We want to make sure that these short-term rental owners understand that the City fully intends to revoke their license if they do not come into compliance with the new regulations.
The City is currently putting together a plan on how the new code enforcement officials will handle complaints involving short-term rental properties that happen over the weekend.
We wanted to take the first few weeks to train the new code enforcement officials and make sure they were up to speed on the issue and how the City plans on addressing the concerns surrounding some of the short-term rentals on the Island.
We are now developing the plan for the weekends and will share the details as soon as they are ready.
