City to Resume Local Management of Brigantine Golf Links

City to Resume Local Management of Brigantine Golf Links

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  October 6th, 2025

City to Resume Local Management of Brigantine Golf Links in 2026

Brigantine, NJ — The City of Brigantine has announced that it will not be renewing its management agreement with the Atlantic County Improvement Authority (ACIA) when the current contract expires in January 2026. The decision marks the next step in the City’s long-term plan to resume direct management of the Brigantine Golf Links.

The ACIA has managed the Brigantine Golf Links for the past decade, helping guide the City through challenging financial years when golf revenues were down and budgets were tight. City officials expressed appreciation for the partnership and the support the ACIA provided during that time.

“Brigantine is extremely grateful to the ACIA for their assistance and stewardship over the past ten years,” said Mayor Vince Sera. “They helped us navigate through a difficult period, and now that the course is thriving again, we are ready to take the next step forward.”

Since COVID, the golf industry has experienced a strong resurgence nationwide. The Brigantine Golf Links has seen the same trend, with annual profits now consistently exceeding $200,000. This growth has positioned the City to take over management operations while maintaining strong financial performance.

To prepare for the next chapter at the Brigantine Golf Links, the City has been working with experienced golf industry professionals to create a plan that will best serve our residents and golfers.  Currently, Brigantine pays the ACIA nearly $1 million per year for management services that are shared between Brigantine Golf Links and Green Tree Golf Course in Egg Harbor Township.

Based on the City’s financial analysis, officials believe the course can be operated for approximately the same annual cost while having all staff and resources dedicated solely to Brigantine.

“The contract with the ACIA was never meant to be permanent,” Mayor Sera explained. “It was always intended to be a short-term partnership to help stabilize operations and restore revenues. Now that the course is performing well, it makes sense to bring management back home and continue building on that success.”

The City has already made significant investments in the Brigantine Golf Links, including the repaving of the cart paths and the full replacement of the course’s irrigation system. The front nine holes were completed in the spring, and the City recently approved a contract to replace the system on the back nine. Construction on that phase is expected to begin soon.

City Council is also moving forward with plans to construct a new clubhouse. The project is currently in the design phase, and officials expect to go out to bid soon. These investments demonstrate Brigantine’s continued commitment to maintaining and enhancing one of the community’s signature recreational assets.

“Our goal is to make the Brigantine Golf Links as beautiful and successful as possible,” said Mayor Sera. “By bringing management back under City control, we can ensure that every dollar and every decision directly benefits our course and our community.”

The City will continue to coordinate with the ACIA throughout 2025 to ensure a smooth transition. Additional details about the transition plan will be shared in the coming months.
