Brigantine City Council will make a decision regarding short term rentals at the upcoming June 3rd council meeting.
This is a very important decision that could have many long term effects on our community.
On one hand, lifting the ban could potentially increase our number of COVID-19 cases. On the other, keeping the ban in place could have devastating consequences for our local economy.
While it may be true that we are all in the same storm, in the fact that our lives are being impacted by COVID-19, the thing we need to consider is that we are not in the same boat.
There are many people in our community that can no longer financially afford to just sit home and wait for things to get better.
The time has come for our community leaders to make decisions and take the necessary steps to begin reopening our local economy.
While the Governor’s executive orders prevent local governments from fully opening all business, they do give us the ability to move forward in some areas.
We understand this is not a perfect situation, but it is important for the City to move forward in the areas it can and lifting the ban on short term rentals is an important step forward.
